The Project

The homeowners had been patching this roof for a while. Previous repairs had been done in spots over the years, but windstorms kept undoing the work. At 20 years old, the roof was past the point where another repair was going to fix anything. They knew it was time.

We helped them file an insurance claim and worked with their adjuster through the whole process. The claim ended up covering close to half the cost of the new roof. That alone took a lot of the weight off — most homeowners don't realize how much of the process they can get help with if someone's willing to go to bat for them.

Once we tore everything off, we found out what was actually going on underneath. Twenty-two sheets of decking had to come out. Mold and rot from water that had been getting in for years — working its way through failed repairs and sitting on the wood long enough to do real damage. We went back to the insurance company with what we found and were able to get the claim increased to cover the additional work.

We replaced all the bad decking, laid down new CertainTeed Landmark TL in Moire Black, and installed new gutters and gutter guards across the whole house. The homeowners said the part that surprised them most was how smooth the insurance side went. They'd been nervous about dealing with it, and we handled the back-and-forth so they didn't have to.
